In the 1440s the kingdom had an infant king and no working government, and this part of it was held by the Bohemian companies of Ján Jiskra of Brandýs, a captain hired to keep the country for the child. His garrisons sat on the castles all along the Hron, Revište among them, and they were not easy to remove: it took a grown king to do it. Matej Korvín broke the last of the free companies in 1467 and took Revište back into royal hands. In 1479 he granted it to Urban Dóczy, bishop of Eger, and the Dóczy family then held Revište and the town of Žarnovica for nearly two hundred years. That is how a royal castle quietly becomes a family's private property: not by conquest, but by a king paying a servant with something that was not money.V štyridsiatych rokoch pätnásteho storočia mala krajina kráľa-dieťa a nefungujúcu vládu a túto jej časť držali české oddiely Jána Jiskru z Brandýsa, veliteľa najatého, aby ju pre chlapca udržal. V roku 1479 ho daroval jágerskému biskupovi Urbanovi Dócziovi a rod Dócziovcov potom držal Revište aj Žarnovicu takmer dvesto rokov. Takto sa z kráľovského hradu potichu stáva súkromný majetok rodu: nie dobytím, ale tým, že kráľ zaplatí služobníkovi niečím, čo nie sú peniaze.
