Poprad grew very fast in the second half of the twentieth century, and most of that growth went south. The Juh estates — a numbered sequence of them, built out across the fields below the town — hold a large share of the town's population, and for years they had the classic socialist-era retail provision: a corner shop at the foot of each block and a bus into the centre for anything more. Max was built where that gap was, on Dlhé hony, on the road out towards Rožňava and within walking distance of the blocks.Poprad v druhej polovici dvadsiateho storočia rástol veľmi rýchlo a väčšina toho rastu smerovala na juh. Sídliská Juh — očíslovaný rad sídlisk vystavaný na poliach pod mestom — držia veľkú časť obyvateľstva mesta a roky mali klasické socialistické vybavenie: obchodík pod každým blokom a autobus do centra na čokoľvek väčšie. Max postavili presne do tejto medzery, na Dlhé hony, pri ceste smerom na Rožňavu a na dosah pešo od panelákov.
It opened in 2005 and was closed and comprehensively rebuilt in 2014, coming back with a reworked interior and a new face. That makes it a generation older than the centre on the main square in the middle of town, and it has aged into a different role rather than competing head-on: Forum gets the visitors and the through traffic, Max gets the Tuesday evening, the after-work shop, the school-holiday cinema trip and the free space at the door. Both are necessary. Only one of them is where Poprad actually lives.Otvorili ho v roku 2005 a v roku 2014 ho zavreli a od základu prestavali; vrátil sa s prepracovaným interiérom a novou tvárou. Je teda o generáciu starší než centrum na hlavnom námestí v strede mesta a namiesto priameho súboja dozrel do inej úlohy: Forum má návštevníkov a tranzit, Max má utorkový večer, nákup po práci, výlet do kina cez prázdniny a voľné miesto priamo pri vchode. Potrebné sú obe. Ale len jedno z nich je tam, kde Poprad naozaj žije.
