SeasonSezóna	The castle operates seasonally. The fullest route and the longest opening hours belong to the warm months; outside the main season the offer is reduced and some parts of the route may not be included at all. Check the current season and the day of the week before you set out — this is not a place to arrive at on spec.Hrad funguje sezónne. InteriorsInteriéry	Guided only. You go round in a group, at the guide’s pace, on a set route — you cannot wander the furnished rooms on your own. Tours run in Slovak as standard; if you need another language, ask when you buy your ticket rather than assuming, and expect that it may mean waiting for a particular departure.Len s lektorom. The climbVýstup	This is the main physical demand of the visit and the thing people underestimate. The full route climbs from the lower courtyard to the citadel by several hundred steps, with no lift and no alternative way up. Some flights are steep, narrow and uneven. If long staircases are a problem for you or for anyone in your party, plan around it honestly.Toto je hlavná fyzická náročnosť návštevy a to, čo ľudia najviac podceňujú. Celá trasa stúpa z dolného nádvoria až do citadely po niekoľkých stovkách schodov, bez výťahu a bez inej cesty hore. Niektoré ramená sú strmé, úzke a nerovné. How long to allowKoľko času si nechať	A good part of a half-day. Between the guided route itself, waiting for a departure, and the fact that you will want to stop on the terraces for the views, this is not a quick stop between two other places. What to wearČo si obliecť	Shoes with grip — the stone stairs are polished by use and the rock stays damp. Bring a layer more than the weather in the valley suggests: the courtyards and the interiors are noticeably colder than the village below, even in high summer, and you will be standing still in them while the guide talks.Obuv s dobrou podrážkou — kamenné schody sú vyhladené chôdzou a skala zostáva vlhká. Getting there and parkingDoprava a parkovanie	The castle is in the village of Oravský Podzámok, on the main road along the Orava river in the Žilina Region of northern Slovakia. Parking is down in the village, not at the castle — you leave the car below and walk up to the entrance. The Orava valley is served by regional bus and by rail; check current connections, because services here are built around the working day rather than around visitors.Hrad stojí v obci Oravský Podzámok pri hlavnej ceste, ktorá vedie popri rieke Orava v Žilinskom kraji na severe Slovenska. Parkuje sa dole v dedine, nie pri hrade — auto necháte pod ním a k vstupu vyjdete pešo. Do oravského údolia premávajú prímestské autobusy aj vlaky; overte si aktuálne spoje, lebo sú tu postavené na pracovnom dni, nie na návštevníkoch.
PhotographyFotografovanie	The exterior is the picture, and it is free — from the village, from the bridge, from the far bank. Rules inside furnished museum interiors vary and can change from season to season, so ask at the ticket desk rather than assuming, and follow whatever the guide says on the day.Fotka je exteriér — a je zadarmo: z dediny, z mosta, z druhého brehu. Pravidlá vnútri zariadených múzejných interiérov sa líšia a môžu sa sezónu od sezóny meniť, takže sa radšej opýtajte pri pokladni a riaďte sa tým, čo v daný deň povie sprievodca.
AccessibilityPrístupnosť	Be realistic: a castle built vertically on a cliff cannot be made step-free. The lower courtyard is the most reachable part of the complex, and the middle and upper levels are stairs the whole way. Visitors with limited mobility, and anyone with a pushchair, should contact the castle in advance to find out what is genuinely possible on the day.Buďme realistickí: hrad postavený zvisle na brale sa bezbariérovým spraviť nedá. Dolné nádvorie je najdostupnejšou časťou komplexu, stredná a horná úroveň sú schody po celej dĺžke. Návštevníci s obmedzenou pohyblivosťou aj ktokoľvek s kočíkom by sa mali vopred spojiť s hradom a zistiť, čo je v daný deň naozaj možné.
