Corgoň, tradition has it, was a smith of extraordinary strength who worked in the town below the castle rock; and when the Turks came at the walls he answered them with whatever was to hand at the forge. Most versions of the story reach for an anvil. The name has long outlived the argument. It belongs to the beer most closely associated with the city, and around here it works as shorthand for a certain kind of stubborn local strength. And one part of the legend is verifiable, which is unusual for a legend: go and look at the stone. Somewhere on the figure it is polished pale and smooth, worn that way by hands — a great many of them, over a very long time.To meno prežilo celý spor.
