The Mongol army swept through the Kingdom of Hungary in 1241 and left much of it emptied. King Béla IV spent the rest of his reign putting the country back together: building stone castles, inviting settlers, and granting land to men who would hold it and work it. The first written document about this stretch of the Hron is one of those grants, a donation charter of Béla IV dated to around 1250. Notice what that does and does not tell you: it records a royal decision, not the moment people first lived here, and villages are almost always older than the first page that names them.Mongolské vojsko prešlo Uhorským kráľovstvom v roku 1241 a nechalo veľkú časť krajiny vyľudnenú.
