Oponice comes in two halves. On the ridge above the village stands the ruin of the Apponyi family's castle, walked up to in under an hour through oak wood. Down in the village stands the family's restored manor, and inside it one of the most remarkable things in the Nitra region: an aristocratic library, kept together across two centuries of upheaval and still on its shelves.Oponice majú dve polovice. Na hrebeni nad obcou stojí zrúcanina hradu rodu Aponiovcov, kam sa dá vyjsť za necelú hodinu dubovým lesom. Dolu v dedine stojí obnovený rodový kaštieľ a v ňom jedna z najpozoruhodnejších vecí v Nitrianskom kraji: šľachtická knižnica, ktorá prežila dve storočia prevratov pohromade a dodnes stojí na svojich policiach.
