Read Nivy from the bottom up and it makes complete sense. At the base, below ground, is the bus terminal: an enclosed deck where long-distance coaches pull in under cover, with waiting areas, ticketing and departure boards, connected upward by escalators rather than by a walk across an open apron. The outside is a long, low, curving mass rather than a rectangle, which is how a building of this size manages not to present a blank wall to any one street. Inside, the concourse is generous and unusually easy to read — it has to be, because a significant share of the people in it are not shopping at all but catching a bus, often with luggage, often in a hurry, and often unable to read Slovak. Wayfinding that works for a traveller works very well indeed for a shopper.Zvonku je to skôr dlhá nízka zaoblená hmota než kváder, čo je spôsob, akým sa budove tejto veľkosti darí neobrátiť k žiadnej ulici hluchú stenu. Vnútri je pasáž veľkorysá a nezvyčajne dobre čitateľná — musí byť, lebo výrazná časť ľudí v nej vôbec nenakupuje, ale chytá autobus, často s batožinou, často v zhone a často bez znalosti slovenčiny. Orientačný systém, ktorý funguje cestujúcemu, funguje nakupujúcemu ešte lepšie.
The roof is the part people talk about, and rightly. It is a genuine public landscape rather than a terrace: planted ground with trees and grass, a running loop several hundred metres round, allotment-style community gardens where things are actually grown, beehives, outdoor exercise equipment, seating and play areas for children. It is open to anyone, it does not require you to buy anything, and the view over the rising towers of the Nivy district is the best free one in this part of Bratislava.O streche sa hovorí najviac, a právom. Nie je to terasa, ale skutočná verejná krajina: vysadená plocha so stromami a trávou, bežecký okruh dlhý niekoľko stoviek metrov, komunitné záhradky záhradkárskeho typu, v ktorých sa naozaj pestuje, včelie úle, vonkajšie cvičebné prvky, sedenie a detské ihriská. Je prístupná komukoľvek, nič si tam nemusíte kúpiť a výhľad na rastúce veže nivskej štvrte je najlepší bezplatný pohľad v tejto časti Bratislavy.
