The Marketplace That Was Here FirstTrhovisko, ktoré tu bolo prvé
Before there was a shopping centre here there was a market, and before the market there was simply the road into town. Hušták is the quarter at the southern approach to Banská Bystrica — the point where anyone arriving from the valley met the town — and for a long stretch of its life it did what such places do everywhere: it traded. This was open trading ground, a lively marketplace on the way in, busy for the simplest of reasons, which is that everybody had to pass through it.Skôr než tu stálo nákupné centrum, býval tu trh, a ešte pred trhom jednoducho cesta do mesta. Hušták je štvrť na južnom prístupe do Banskej Bystrice — miesto, kde sa každý, kto prichádzal od doliny, stretol s mestom — a veľkú časť svojho života robila to, čo takéto miesta robia všade: obchodovala. Bolo to otvorené trhovisko na ceste dnu, rušné z toho najjednoduchšieho dôvodu, totiž že cezeň musel prejsť každý.
That ended slowly, and then completely. The quarter was built up around the trading ground, and a road bypass and a viaduct were driven through what was left of it. The market faded; Hušták stopped being a place and became a junction, something you crossed on the way to somewhere else. Point opened on 25 October 2018 on exactly that ground. It is a small centre and makes no pretence otherwise — three storeys, everything a minute from everything else, no ambition to be a regional destination. What it does instead is stand where the pedestrian route into the old town begins, and behave like a building on a street rather than a box in a car park.Skončilo sa to pomaly a potom úplne. Štvrť sa okolo trhoviska zastavala a cez to, čo z neho zostalo, prerazili cestný obchvat a estakáda. Trh vyhasol; Hušták prestal byť miestom a stal sa križovatkou, niečím, čím sa prechádza cestou inam. Nákupné centrum Point sa otvorilo 25. októbra 2018 presne na tomto pozemku. Je to malé centrum a ani sa netvári inak — tri podlažia, všetko na minútu chôdze od všetkého, žiadna ambícia byť regionálnym cieľom. Namiesto toho stojí tam, kde sa začína pešia trasa do starého mesta, a správa sa ako dom na ulici, nie ako škatuľa uprostred parkoviska.
