The address is worth reading before the shop windows. Pltníky means raftsmen — the men who once ran timber down the rivers of northern Slovakia on lashed log rafts, a trade that shaped the whole Váh corridor for centuries before railways killed it. The centre stands on the river side of Martin, on the Turiec, and it is worth pausing on that: this is a shopping centre with a working river along one flank and an outdoor space beside the water, which is not the usual arrangement.Adresu sa oplatí prečítať skôr než výklady. Pltníky sú pltníci — muži, ktorí kedysi splavovali drevo po riekach severného Slovenska na zviazaných pltiach, remeslo, ktoré po stáročia formovalo celé Považie, kým ho nezabili železnice. Centrum stojí na riečnej strane Martina, pri Turci, a pri tom sa oplatí zastaviť: je to obchodné centrum so živou riekou pozdĺž jedného boku a s vonkajším priestorom pri vode, čo nebýva obvyklé.
The project took roughly three years from the first market study to the doors opening, with about a year of that on site, and the centre opened to the public on 5 October 2006. It was built by a Slovak developer, Redema Group, and it arrived before the country changed currency — the donation the developer made to the town at the opening, for children in care and from disadvantaged families, was counted in Slovak korunas, which now reads like a date stamp. In 2018 the centre gained the thing the town had been missing: a multiplex cinema, four screens, inside the building.Od prvej marketingovej štúdie po otvorenie dverí ubehli zhruba tri roky, z toho asi rok na stavenisku, a pre verejnosť centrum otvorili 5. októbra 2006. Postavil ho slovenský developer Redema Group a prišlo ešte pred zmenou meny — dar, ktorý developer pri otvorení venoval mestu na deti z detských domovov a zo sociálne znevýhodnených rodín, sa počítal v slovenských korunách, čo dnes pôsobí ako dátumová pečiatka. V roku 2018 centrum získalo to, čo mestu chýbalo: multiplex so štyrmi sálami priamo v budove.
