A free-standing arch of conglomerate, and the single image most people carry away from Súľov. The name is the point: the opening really does read as a pointed Gothic doorway, cut by weather rather than by masons — which is why the whole reserve keeps confusing the eye between building and rock.Voľne stojaci oblúk zo zlepenca a zároveň obraz, ktorý si zo Súľova odnáša väčšina ľudí. The squeeze that gives the walk its drama. At its narrowest the route is carried on fixed metal steps and a ladder, and you climb rather than stroll for a couple of minutes. Perfectly manageable in dry conditions with decent footwear; genuinely slippery in the wet or after a frost.Zúženie, ktoré dáva celej túre jej dramatickosť. Set expectations low and you will enjoy it. What is left is fragments of wall and rock-cut footings built straight onto the stone, with no roof, no interior and no barrier between you and the drop. The circuit takes in a viewpoint over the reserve, and from it the whole trick of the place is laid out at once: pale towers standing clear of dark woods, the village roofs far below, the Váh valley beyond. In autumn colour it is the best half-hour of the day — which is also why the car park below is full.Okruh zahŕňa aj vyhliadku na rezerváciu a z nej sa celý trik tohto miesta ukáže naraz: svetlé veže vystupujúce z tmavého lesa, strechy obce hlboko dole a za nimi údolie Váhu. V jesenných farbách je to najlepšia polhodina dňa — a zároveň dôvod, prečo je parkovisko dole plné.
