The Little Carpathians are a modest range, but they cut this region cleanly in two. West of them lies Záhorie — sandy pine country along the Morava, with the baroque château town of Holíč at its northern end. East of them the vineyards come down out of the hills into open grain land, and the roads gather toward Trnava, the region's seat.Malé Karpaty sú neveľké pohorie, no tento kraj delia čisto na dve polovice. Západne od nich leží Záhorie — piesočnatá borovicová krajina pri Morave s barokovým zámockým mestečkom Holíč na severnom konci. Východne od nich schádzajú vinohrady z kopcov do otvorenej obilnej roviny a cesty sa zbiehajú k Trnave, sídlu kraja.
Trnava itself has been called the little Rome for centuries — a walled medieval town whose skyline is nearly all church towers. On the Váh at the region's eastern edge lies Piešťany, Slovakia's best-known spa town; and in the hills between them, above the wine villages, stand the towers of Smolenice Castle.Samotnú Trnavu volajú už po stáročia malý Rím — opevnené stredoveké mesto, ktorého panorámu tvoria takmer samé kostolné veže. Na Váhu pri východnom okraji kraja ležia Piešťany, najznámejšie slovenské kúpeľné mesto; a v kopcoch medzi nimi, nad vinohradníckymi obcami, stoja veže Smolenického zámku.
