Teaching is only half of what Nitra does with agricultural science. The National Agricultural and Food Centre (Národné poľnohospodárske a potravinárske centrum, NPPC) has its headquarters at Lužianky, immediately outside the city, and gathers the state's agricultural research institutes into a single organisation — animal production, crop production, food research, agroecology and the testing of agricultural machinery. The output is the unglamorous backbone of the whole sector: breeding trials, soil and feed analysis, variety testing, food safety work.Vyučovanie je len polovica toho, čo Nitra robí s poľnohospodárskou vedou. Výsledkom je nenápadná chrbtová kosť celého odvetvia: šľachtiteľské pokusy, rozbory pôdy a krmív, skúšky odrôd, práca na bezpečnosti potravín.
Agroinštitút Nitra, near the exhibition grounds, is the sector's meeting place rather than its laboratory — a conference and continuing-education centre that hosts training courses, professional gatherings and much of the programme that clusters around the August fair. And the Diocese of Nitra maintains a priestly seminary in the city: clerical education has been given on and around this hill for centuries, longer than any university here has existed.Agroinštitút Nitra, neďaleko výstaviska, je skôr miestom stretávania odvetvia než jeho laboratóriom — konferenčné a vzdelávacie centrum, ktoré hostí školenia, odborné podujatia a značnú časť sprievodného programu augustového veľtrhu. A Nitrianska diecéza vedie v meste kňazský seminár: kňazská príprava sa na tomto kopci a v jeho okolí poskytuje po stáročia, dlhšie, než tu jestvuje ktorákoľvek univerzita.
