Most people start in Skýcov, a long village at the eastern edge of the Tribeč in the Zlaté Moravce district. Leave the car by the village, find the marked trail, and the first twenty minutes are gentle: forest road, oak and hornbeam, the noise of the valley dropping away behind you. Then the track tips upward and the walking becomes proper hill work — a rooty, stony climb through beech, with the crag showing itself only in glimpses through the canopy until you are almost underneath it.Väčšina návštevníkov vyráža zo Skýcova, dlhej obce na východnom okraji Tribeča v okrese Zlaté Moravce. Auto necháte v dedine, nájdete značkovaný chodník a prvých dvadsať minút je pohodlných: lesná cesta, duby a hraby, hluk doliny zostáva za chrbtom. Potom sa cesta zdvihne a začne sa poctivé stúpanie — korene, kamene a bučina, pričom bralo sa ukáže len v útržkoch pomedzi koruny, kým mu nestojíte takmer priamo pod pätou.
Other trails come in from Topoľčianky, Obyce, Zlatno and the hamlets on the far side of the range; they are longer and lovelier, and they turn Hrušov from a morning into a proper day. Whichever you take, the last few metres are the same: a scramble up onto the rock, and then the walls, quite suddenly, around you.Ďalšie chodníky prichádzajú od Topoľčianok, Obýc, Zlatna a z osád na druhej strane pohoria; sú dlhšie a krajšie a z Hrušova urobia namiesto dopoludnia celodenný výlet. What you find up there is a small castle read in cross-section. The lower bailey comes first, stepped along the ridge, its curtain walls low but legible. Above it the ground narrows to the summit rock and the upper ward sits on top of it, palace and tower footings knitted straight into the stone. Consolidated masonry is easy to pick out — its wall crowns are level and its joints are pale — while the older, weathered stonework goes green and shaggy beneath. Between the two you can read a hundred years of collapse and a couple of decades of patient repair.Hore nájdete malý hrad ako v priereze. Nad ním sa terén zúži na vrcholové bralo a na ňom sedí horný hrad — základy paláca a veže sú votkané priamo do skaly. Konsolidované murivo spoznáte ľahko: má rovné koruny a svetlé škáry, kým staršie, zvetrané kamenivo pod ním zelenie a mechnatie. Medzi jedným a druhým sa dá prečítať sto rokov rozpadu a dve desaťročia trpezlivej obnovy.
