Everything in Nitra is oriented on one silhouette. The castle stands on its rock at the foot of Zobor, and inside the walls St Emmeram's Cathedral stacks three churches into one — a small Romanesque core, a Gothic upper church and a Baroque nave, fused across eight centuries and painted a pale, unmistakable white. A bishop's palace, a seminary building and a cobbled gate ramp complete the enclosure; below it the lanes of the Upper Town drop away toward the river.Všetko v Nitre sa orientuje podľa jednej siluety. At the corner of the outer bastion crouches Corgoň, a stone atlas figure carrying the weight of the wall on his shoulders. Nitra tells of a blacksmith of that name and legendary strength; passers-by touch him for luck, and the brewery in town has carried his name on its beer for decades. Below the hill, Pribina Square holds the prince's statue, and the pedestrianised Štefánikova runs the length of the centre.Na rohu vonkajšej bašty sa krčí Corgoň, kamenný atlant nesúci na pleciach váhu múru.
