Base first in Liptov, near Liptovský Mikuláš. Within half an hour are the Demänovská Cave of Liberty and the Demänovská Ice Cave, the Jasná cable cars, the Tatralandia and Bešeňová thermal parks, and the open-air museum at Pribylina where whole buildings were moved before the reservoir filled.Prvou základňou nech je Liptov pri Liptovskom Mikuláši. Two day trips are worth the drive. Bojnice, further west, has the castle everyone draws when asked to draw a castle, and the country's oldest zoo next to it. And Slovenský raj, an hour east of Poprad, has gorge routes with ladders that older children love and younger ones should not be carried up.Za dva výlety sa oplatí sadnúť do auta.
