Everything here arranges itself around the High Tatras, the roofline of the whole country. South of them spreads the old land of Spiš — walled towns, Renaissance belfries and the travertine hill of Spiš Castle; east lies Šariš around Prešov and Bardejov; and north, along the Polish border, the Dunajec cuts its gorge through the Pieniny.Všetko sa tu usporadúva okolo Vysokých Tatier, strechy celej krajiny. Poprad is the gateway: the main rail line delivers you beneath the peaks, and the little Tatra electric railway climbs from there to the resorts.
