The Bratislava Region wraps around the capital like a garden around a house. At its heart is Bratislava itself — the castle hill, the coronation-era Old Town, the UFO deck hovering over the river. To the north-east the Small Carpathians rise in a single wooded wave, vineyards on their sunny side; along the southern edge runs the Danube, wide, working and never far away.Bratislavský kraj obopína hlavné mesto ako záhrada dom. At Devín the Morava flows into the Danube with Austria on the far bank, and the border with Hungary lies just downstream of the capital — which is why this small kraj has spent most of its history as a crossroads, and why it still is one.Na dohľad odtiaľto ležia ďalšie dve krajiny.
