The town lies on the Bratislava–Žilina corridor, the country's busiest road and rail axis, which follows the Váh valley north from the capital. Trains on that line stop at Piešťany and the motorway runs past the town, so arriving from Bratislava, Trnava, Trenčín or Žilina is straightforward either way. From Vienna or Budapest you travel via Bratislava. Worth knowing before you book: the spa is not the town centre. The Váh divides below the centre and the treatment houses stand on the island between its arms, reached on foot over the Colonnade Bridge. The town — station, shops, restaurants, ordinary streets — stays on the bank. The two are an easy walk apart, which is rather the point: a guest staying on the island can be in town in minutes, and a day visitor can cross to the park and back without a car. The island is laid out for walking rather than driving, so assume you park on the town side.Ešte pred rezerváciou sa oplatí vedieť jedno: kúpele nie sú centrom mesta. Váh sa pod centrom delí na dve ramená a liečebné domy stoja na ostrove medzi nimi; chodí sa k nim pešo cez Kolonádový most. Mesto — stanica, obchody, reštaurácie, bežné ulice — ostáva na brehu. Obe strany delí pohodlná prechádzka, a práve o to ide: hosť ubytovaný na ostrove je v meste za pár minút a jednodňový návštevník sa dostane do parku a späť aj bez auta. Ostrov je usporiadaný skôr na chodenie než na jazdenie — počítajte s tým, že parkovať budete na mestskej strane.
A spa town is less seasonal than a mountain resort — the water is the same temperature in February — but the visit is not. Late spring through early autumn is when the park earns the walk, terraces are outdoors and the town is at its liveliest. Winter strips the island back to bare trees and steam, which some people prefer and which is quieter. The fullest weeks are the Slovak school holidays and high summer. Underneath all of it the spa's own calendar of stays and long treatment courses runs through the year regardless.Kúpeľné mesto je menej sezónne ako horské stredisko — voda má vo februári tú istú teplotu — ale samotná návšteva sezónna je. Od neskorej jari do začiatku jesene stojí park za prechádzku, terasy sú vonku a mesto je najživšie. Zima zredukuje ostrov na holé stromy a paru, čo niekomu vyhovuje viac a býva pokojnejšie. Najplnšie sú slovenské školské prázdniny a vrcholné leto. Popod to všetko beží celý rok vlastný kalendár kúpeľných pobytov a dlhých liečebných kúr.
